see the childlike tendencies collection:
this collection was born in response to how heartbreaking the world has become, and the urgency I feel to remind us all of the tenderness we still carry. Through this work, I was able to fully reconnect with the little Sam who peeled the cicada shells off of the tree bark, gently— cupping them in the palm of her hand— enamored by the intricacies of their hardened armors. The little Sam who found magic in the muddy run-off left behind from the rainstorm, who collected dandelions by the bushel and believed they held the key to all of her biggest wishes. That little Sam still lives inside of me, subconsciously guiding my life: whispering reminders to stay curious, to feel everything fully, and to never forget that wonder is a kind of strength. A resiliency.
These pieces are invitations to sit with myself. To return to curiosity. To let ourselves feel. To protect the childlike wonder inside us that refuses to harden, even when it hurts.
