These abstract works are an ode to play in the studio. After a long year of devotion to intense working and large compositions, paired with the existential anxiety of the current state of our world— these pieces serve as a reminder for play, flow, and improv within the creative practice. Heading back to my roots, the large, abstract and expressive brushstrokes entwine with each emotive bodily composition. A reminder to experience the body in a profoundly new way—not simply as a vessel, but as an integral part of the complex human experience. This connection is something many of us lose sight of, conditioned from birth to detach from our emotional selves in order to conform to societal norms. These pieces reflect on this process, a mirror of my journey towards reclaiming the body as both a site of emotional expression and an agent of self-discovery.
